What’s the difference between traditionally mesotherapy and Eporex Mesotherapy?

In aesthetic beauty, both traditional and Eporex mesotherapy means introducing cocktails of vitamins, minerals and amino acids just beneath the epidermis.  Each ingredient has a specific action within the cells of the treatment area  and they work to reverse the physiology of a particular condition.

Traditional mesotherapy involves the cocktail of ingredients being injected superficially.  Practitioners can move the needle quite quickly as they can make a few dozen punctures, each time releasing small quantities of the ingredients.  Your practitioner may numb your face with a special cream before the treatment is done as it can be quite painful.  You may well have some slight bruising for a day or two also.

The traditional injection mesotherapy needle technique can be off-putting as it’s not particularly pleasant, and you are supposed to have weekly treatments with aesthetic mesotherapy.

The Eporex system is a new type of transdermal delivery system which has been developed on the basis of a broad range of accredited studies and research, particularly in the field of physical mechanisms that penetrate and broaden the spread of active ingredients in the skin.

Eporex Mesotherapy was an original concept when it was created in 2003, and that was to combine the Eporex transdermal delivery system with traditional mesotherapy and to offer, for the first time, a painless, no-needle mesotherapy treatment.

With the Eporex Mesotherapy treatment, the ingredients are not injected into the skin but affected by an electrical current.  Eporex’s patented delivery chamber activates the mesotherapy ingredients, and with a synergy of techniques, introduces them beneath the skin.  The treatment is performed by moving the chamber over the skin, emitting the active ingredients.  You should feel a tingling sensation during the treatment but this should never be uncomfortable and is controlled by your Eporex therapist.

What Happens When You Go for an Eporex Treatment?

Prior to Treatment

You will initially have a consultation with an Eporex therapist in which the particular problem is examined and your objectives are discussed.

The treatment is explained to you and a questionnaire is taken to ascertain your suitability for treatment.

If you’re having Targeted Fat Reduction treatments then an Eating Plan needs to be agreed before you start the treatments.  The Targeted Fat Reduction treatment is the only treatment in which you have to actually do anything, because of how the treatment works.

Preparation Ultrasound Treatment

Treatments are normally given on a treatment couch and you will need to remove any clothing from around the treatment area and also jewellery.

Before you actually have the Eporex Mesotherapy treatment your skin is prepared.  It should firstly be wiped cleaned, such as with warm water and cotton wool, or with a disposable wipe.  As well as cleaning the area, any cosmetics including make-up should be removed.

Eporex ultrasound is then used.  The skin is moistened with warm water and then the Eporex ultrasound probe is moved across the skin.  It creates a pressure in the water on the skin’s surface and thrusts the liquid off the skin, taking with it small particles of dirt and make-up from the skin and pores, as well as dead skin cells.  This process is important as it offers a more hygienic treatment and increases the efficacy of the main treatment by reducing barriers to the transdermal delivery of the vitamins, minerals and amino-acids.

Eporex Mesotherapy Transdermal Delivery Treatment

During the Eporex Mesotherapy treatment, a conductive pad which is encased in a damp sponge in placed beneath the body close to the treatment area.

The ingredients which your Eporex therapist selected to achieve your treatment objectives are mixed in a bottle with a delivery gel and one of Eporex’s patented delivery chambers is attached.

Your therapist will select the desired programme on the Eporex system and begins treatment.

The Eporex system activates the ingredients in the bottle and the Eporex chamber moves across the skin emitting the solution.

Your Eporex therapist will be controlling the intensity of the treatment.  They should, particularly if it’s your first treatment, start on a low intensity setting and gradually increase it to a level which you are comfortable with.  You should feel either a slightly prickly sensation on the treatment area, particularly if it’s a sensitive area like the face, or a pulsing from the conductive pad.

Treatments take between 15 and 40 minutes, after which, the excess gel is removed and the skin cleaned.

Final Ultrasound Treatment

For some facial treatments, the Eporex ultrasound probe is again used but this time it can be combined with micro-current, exploiting the synergy between ultrasound (sonic thrust) and micro-current (ionic thrust).  A moisturiser or oil is applied to the skin and the ultrasound probe vibrates as it moves over the skin.  The mini vibrations created by the ultrasound increases blood and nutrient flow in the area, promoting healthy skin, and also helps to drive the topical cream or oil a little further into the skin, leaving the skin feeling extremely soft and toned.

With either the Preparation or Final Ultrasound treatment, a strap may be placed around your wrist.  It’s dependent on the ultrasound treatment programme selected by your therapist and how Eporex’s technology is working for that particular treatment.

Can Eporex treat post-operative scarring as well as stretch marks?

You can treat post-operative scars successfully with Eporex but you must allow at least three months between the operation and treatment, or wait until the skin is healed. You cannot have the treatment if it appears that the wound is still bleeding, is infected, and if it has not healed completely.

You can have scars on the breasts treated after a breast lift or reduction, but not if you have breast implants.

What kind of result can you expect from the Targeted Fat Reduction treatment?

A retrospective study was taken of 38 people who took the Targeted Fat Reduction treatment.  It was presented at Aesthetic Medicine Conference in London by Dr Chopra of The London Dermatology Centre and consultant dermatologist on C4’s Embarrassing Bodies.

The study was taken of 30 women and 8 men who had six fat reduction treatments on the abdomen.

The results showed that over the six treatments, over seven weeks, the average weight-loss for the women was 6.5lbs and the average circumference loss was 5.94CM.   Men results faired slightly better.

You can view a presentation extract, which includes the study, on the Treatment page of the main Eporex website.

Who is suitable for the Targeted Fat Reduction treatment?

Men or women of any age can have the Eporex TFR treatment.  People with certain medical conditions cannot have treatments but a full consultation is taken with your therapist prior to treatment.

Most people who want fat reduced have stores around the buttocks, thighs and stomach.  Some people may exercise regularly but find it impossible to lose a small pocket of fat on the stomach; other people may have larger fat stores they want to be rid of.  Whichever category you fall into, Eporex can help you achieve the result you desire.

Eporex can also quickly reduce fat on the arms or beneath the chin too, and then the treatment protocols can be altered to further help tone and lift the skin.

What should happen at your consultation for TFR?

Three things should happen to you at your consultation:

  • An overview of the treatment should be explained
  • Medical & Health Consultation.  You will be asked a range of questions about your medical history and any current medical condition, to make sure you can safely have treatments
  • Eating Plan.  You should be given an Eating Plan Guide.  You should read it and understand the treatment and recommendations as you’re going to agree an Eating Plan with your Eporex therapist before you start your treatments.  Start to think about the menu options that suit your taste

How do the ingredients work in the Targeted Fat Reduction treatment?

Utilising the Eporex system, vitamins, minerals and amino acids are introduced through the skin and into the specific fat stores targeted. Each ingredient is a non-toxic substance that exists naturally inside your body, or there are similar acting enzymes, and they perform vital functions.  By adding more of these ingredients, it accelerates and supports certain processes, these being:

· Breaking up of solid fat (triglycerides) into a the liquid form (fatty acid)

· Improving the cells ability to metabolise the fat and accelerate the fat burning process

· Detoxifying the tissue

· Helping to tone, restructure and rejuvenate the skin at a cellular level
